ABOUT THE FILMMAKERS

Raj Amit kumar - Director & Producer

Award winning Filmmaker and Writer, Raj Amit Kumar made his first feature film titled UNFREEDOM in 2015 with renowned actors such as BAFTA nominee Victor Banerjee and Life of Pi’s Adil Hussain, renowned technicians such as Oscar Winner Slumdog Millionaire' Resul Pukkootty. Unfreedom was banned by the Indian government and the film not only received notoriety but also was critical acclaimed. The film was theatrically released in North America. The Unfreedom is now available worldwide on NETFLIX.

Raj Amit Kumar finished his Ph.D. Coursework in Cinema and Media studies at Southern Illinois University (SIUC) in 2009. That same year, he received the Faculty Screenwriting Award at University of Film and Video Association (UFVA). Prior to attending SIUC, Kumar graduated with Masters of Arts in Cinema and Media Studies from City University of New York (CUNY) in 2006 where he received the George Custen Memorial Award for Academic Excellence.

Kumar is also a Speaker and Teacher. He has taught cinema theory and history at both his alma maters, CUNY and SIUC. His writings and research papers have been published and presented at various conferences.


Hari Nair - Director Of Photography

An Indian National Award winning cinematographer (for the short film Sham’s vision) & a big name in the Southern Indian film industry, Hari has also been felicitated with the Kerala State Award for his work in films like Swaham and Ende Sondham Janakutty. His celebrated works include Ram Gopal Varma’s Shool, Rituparno Ghosh’s Dahan, The White Elephant, Theevram, Kerala Café (Segment Mrityunjayam) and Swaham. He was also a part of the film Yaksh which was released in 2013.


Atanu Mukherjee - Editor

A Post Graduate in Film Editing from Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata, Atanu is the editor of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival Midnight Screening selection Monsoon Shootout. A festival regular, his work has been showcased at International Film Festival Rotterdam, OSIAN, SAFF New York, Hague Indian Film Festival, Kyiv International Film Festival, Abu Dhabi Film Festival, International Short Film Festival, Oberhausen, Germany, IndieLisboa, Tehran International Short Film Festival.


Damon J Taylor - Co-Writer & Chief Assistant Director

Damon earned his BA in Cinema, emphasis on screenwriting, from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale as Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 and has been traveling across the US, India and New Zealand working in many departments of the filmmaking process on large and small productions like, Lord of the Rings, Last Samurai, Unfreedom, Up in the Air, Ghost Image, Mickey and the Bear and Interviewing Monsters.


Resul Pookutty - Sound Designer

A graduate of FTII, Pune, Resul won the Academy Award, BAFTA award and the C.A.S Award sound mixing for Slumdog Millionaire. Having done sound design for over 40 films since 1997, his famous works include Sanjay Leela Bhansali's critically acclaimed Black and Saawariya, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Enthiran, Ghajini and Bluffmaster. In 2012, Resul co-produced and designed sound for the film I.D and his latest projects include Shootout at Wadala, Gulaab Gang and Gandhi of the Month featuring Harvey Keitel..


Wayne Sharpe - Music Composer

A Filmfare Awards winner for his score for Gangaajal, Wayne is the man behind soundtracks of films such as Raajneeti, Apaharan, Aarakshan and the recent film festivals favorite Dekh Indian Circus!
